The Avatar Program starts with Avatar Ignite, beginning February 9th, 2024. Through the 14-week process, you will explore the most up-to-date information on energy transition technologies and market dynamics while building your skills and competencies as an energy leader of the future.
Your team will work through the process and pitch your energy transition solution to an industry Shark Tank panel of the most senior executives.
The best projects will be selected to enter the Avatar Studio program, where your solution will emerge as a fundable business.
Avatar Ignite
Creating the future of energy transition
Avatar Ignite takes market-pulled industry challenges and turns them into business opportunities. Ignite brings emerging professionals together to work in cross-functional teams to generate new business ideas for industry challenges.
Over the course of a 14-week program, participants engage in sessions led by industry and academic experts that range from innovation to entrepreneurship. Ignite typically generates 5 - 15 groundbreaking initiatives ready to move on to Avatar Studio.

Our most recent cohort in Winter 2023 hosted 265 emerging leaders from 45 energy companies across four provinces, 14 US States, and five countries.
The group is divided into 50 teams that participate in a 14-week program led by industry mentors, thought leaders, and executives,
Sessions include topics ranging from Netzero Energy Economics to Entrepreneurship in the New Energy Economy.
The output typically results in 5 - 15 innovative, implementable, and groundbreaking initiatives.

Avatar Studio takes the most promising early-stage solutions emerging from Avatar Ignite and partners them with customers and Industry experts to create investor-ready business opportunities.
By breaking down the barriers of corporate silos, we provide a “safe 3rd space” for collaborative companies to work together through a ground-breaking co-development process to implement new energy projects.
How Studio works
Organizations sponsor a project aligned with their business needs
Sponsors are teamed with industry collaborators capable of solution implementation
Organizations, teams and IP are protected under an NDA. Collaboration and training occurs through workshops facilitated by experts, the U of C and Azure training
Teams advance the solution and develop a business case for their initiative
Initiatives are pitched to executive sponsors and collaborators to determine if they’re ready for venture capital financing

Unlocking CarbonTech capital to implement solutions to help decarbonize our economy
We believe that many of the world’s most compelling solutions to decarbonization exist within oil and gas, yet the access required to implement and the capital needed to scale have long been a limiting factor. That’s why we’ve started Avatar Ventures to provide access to the capital required to launch these emerging solutions. Validated by a robust process, sponsored by industry, and capitalized by Avatar’s partners, we provide the full-cycle ecosystem that successful energy innovation demands.
While the Avatar Studio prepares teams to win in the extremely competitive marketplace, Avatar Ventures is working with the investment community to prepare them for funding opportunities.

How Ventures works
After 5 months of critical thinking, problem validation, and customer discovery in Studio the teams will present at “Demo Day.”
A panel of investors will assess the teams and their business solutions
Capital will be committed to the most compelling opportunities
Successful teams will create a ‘NewCo’ where they will incorporate and own the solution they have developed over the past year of the Avatar Program.
